The Early Learning Programs & Services Department at the Tehama County Department of Education is committed to supporting young children, their families, and early childhood educators throughout Tehama County.

We proudly offer a range of high-quality programs—including State Preschool, the Family Child Care Home Education Network (FCCHEN), Help Me Grow Tehama, CPIN, and Professional Development for early educators.

Each of these programs plays an important role in helping children ages 0 to 5 build the foundational skills they need for lifelong learning and success. We also support families by connecting them to local resources, and we equip early educators with valuable training and tools to create nurturing, enriching learning environments.

Our State Preschool program is committed to providing a fun and enriching environment where your child can learn and grow. Our teachers support each child’s unique strengths, offering activities that nurture both learning and social-emotional development to build a strong foundation for the future!

The Family Child Care Home Education Network (FCCHEN) connects families with high-quality, licensed family child care providers in Tehama County. This program ensures that children, from birth through 12 years old, receive nurturing, educational care in a home-based setting that supports their growth and development.

Help Me Grow Tehama is here to support families with young children from birth to age five. We offer free services to help parents track their child’s development, connect with local resources, and reach their family goals. Our caring team is dedicated to helping families stay strong and healthy by offering guidance, meaningful connections, and a welcoming, judgment-free space. Parenting can be challenging, but you don’t have to do it alone. We’re here to help!

The California Preschool Instructional Network (CPIN) supports early childhood educators through professional development, resources, and guidance aligned with California’s early learning standards. By equipping educators with effective strategies, CPIN helps foster children’s growth and school readiness, benefiting families through enriched early learning experiences.

Workforce Development Pathways

California Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK)

California is expanding high-quality early learning for all young children! Universal Pre-K (UPK) provides free or low-cost preschool options for 3- and 4-year-olds, helping them get ready for kindergarten and beyond. Programs include Transitional Kindergarten (TK), State Preschool, and Head Start.

Inclusive Early Education Expansion Program

IEEEP- Inclusive Early Education Expansion Program is a grant that the Early Learning Programs and Services department received that helps to create high-quality, inclusive early learning opportunities. By investing in an inclusive learning environment, adaptive materials, and professional development, the IEEEP grant supports classrooms, staff, and families with resources and training so every child can thrive!
